Long-haul flights even on private jets take a physical toll. The chief culprit: Dry cabin
air. With humidity hovering at 5 percent for most of a long flight (that's more arid than
desert air) irritated eyes, dark circles, wrinkles and dry, dull and flaky skin often result.
San Francisco Bay-area aesthetician Denise Spanek sources and formulates the perfect skin care products from around the world and formulating her own to creae the ideal jet-setters skin care kit. Her Air Repair Kit contains a 30-day supply of Spanek's proprietary Rescue Balm and Skin Vitality Mineral Mist, Karin Herzog Oxygen Face Cream and Essential Mask, the Terme Hand Cream from Italy and Sothys of Paris cleanser. $195. Long-haul luxury leader Cathay Pacific gave the Air Repair Kit this year to its U.S. Marco Polo Club Members. Air Repair Kit as featured in Elite Traveler Magazine.

Have you ever taken a good look at yourself
in an airplane's bathroom mirror? It's not a pretty sight, is it? Well, the
unflattering flourescent lights are only part of the problem. "Airplane air" is
the real culprit. Spanek combed the globe for the best combination of skin products she could
find. She tested the products on men and women on long and short flights and arrived
at the Visage Studio Air Repair Kit.

I was drawn to Visage Makeup and Skincare Studio
in Burlingame for an Om-Oxy Facial because aesthetician Denise Spanek
is also a certified yoga instructor and a makeup artist: She believes
in working hard to look and feel beautiful, inside and out. Spanek has
run her own operation for 18 years, saying no along the way to offers
and urges to build or run a big spa operation. It's dark and quiet in
her work space, and I kept forgetting to breathe deeply as she plied
her trade, using fancy Karin Herzog oxygen-enriched creams (a concept
dermatologists scorn but Spanek swears by) and Kiehl's moisturizing
sunblock alongside kitchen staple Saran Wrap - stuck on mummy style,
to hold in the oxygen. This is another gentle facial, and I liked the
feel of the Herzog scrub cream Spanek sells to help battle dead skin
at home. IDEAL FOR: No-nonsense types and yoga fans. BOOK IT:(650) 347-0465,

They may be the best in the business, but even beauty experts can't
always treat themselves. Meredith Asplundh persuaded the industry's
top pros to reveal their favorite salons, stylists, spas and products.
The Pro: Marcia Kilgore, aesthetician extraordinaire and founder and executive director of Bliss Spas in New York and London.
Celeb Sightings: Jennifer Lopez, Lauren Holly.
Old Faithfuls: "When I'm in San Francisco, I go to Denise at Visage Makeup and Skin Care Studios - she's always great. The vibe at Visage is total tranquility; you feel you're the only one there."
Gentry Magazine
One of the easiest steps, and one of the most tempting, is to visit Denise
Spanek at Visage Studio in Burlingame to sample what she calls "the
most amazing facial procedure I've seen in 16 years in business."
Spanek is talking about oxygen therapy facials which, she says, revolutionized
her business. She raves about oxygen therapy products as well, and she's
not the only one. Barbara Streisand, Demi Moore, Sharon Stone and Uma
Thurman are rumored to use Vita-A-Kombi, the swiss-made cream Vogue
called a cult product, an "insider cream" that is "little
known and hard to find."
Vita-A-Kombi was developed by Nobel Institute epidemiologist Dr. Paul Herzog for use
on burns, wounds and skin diseases. If Vita-A-Kombi can help these problems,
what defenses do your fine lines and wrinkles have against it?
